The four axes of the bill for higher education

The cabinet meeting is in progress from 11 in the morning. An important part of today’s debate is the bill of the Ministry of Education for higher education.

This is the last piece in the puzzle of the overall legislative work in this area, for which, according to executives, the government committed itself before the elections.

The bill is structured in four axes:

-University upgrade of universities: With modernization of study programs (eg Interdisciplinary joint / double undergraduate, Possibility to choose courses from study programs of other Departments, “Greek Erasmus”, Professional postgraduate, Industrial doctorates). By strengthening research activity (eg Establishment of research centers and inter-institutional research centers, staffing with researchers for tenure, attracting Visiting Professors and Researchers from foreign universities).

Enhancing the functionality of universities: By utilizing institutional tools to enhance the efficiency and organizational operation of HEIs. With the release of a research framework from bureaucratic malfunctions.

-Promoting the connection of universities with society: By utilizing research results-strengthening entrepreneurship. By providing services from laboratories to citizens / institutions. By enhancing lifelong learning. With support for internationalization and development of collaborations.

-DoATAP modernization: By establishing a flexible framework for academic recognition of degrees from universities abroad.
