The far -right, the Greens, and later the Socialists, of which Bairo’s fate depends largely, said they could hardly support him. If it loses the vote of confidence in the National Assembly, the Bayrou government will fall. Uncertainty scared investors, increasing France’s borrowing costs, while the CAC-40 index closed the day with a drop of 1.6%.
