The gang rape of a teenager that shocked the whole world: They tattooed her body and burned her with a cigarette

Eleven men who gang-raped and raped a 17-year-old Moroccan girl for two months were sentenced to 20 years in prison. This is a case that has caused outrage worldwide.

Khadija Okkarou was abducted and sold to a gang, who raped her and tattooed her on her body before returning her to her family home two months later.

Tattoos and cigarette burns: The shocking video with the girl

The case shocked him Morocco but also the whole world, because of the extreme violence perpetrated by the perpetrators. In fact, a video released online in 2018 showed her arms, legs and neck full of tattoos done by her tormentors. She also had cigarette burns on her body.

Okkarou, who reveals with great courage the horrific abuse he suffered in a video – a move rare for the conservative North African country – said that members of a “dangerous gang” gang-raped and tortured her for months.

The girl’s lawyer, Ibrahim Hachane, said the Beni Mellal city court had found the defendants guilty of a number of charges, including rape and abduction.

Two other defendants were sentenced to two years in prison and one year suspended.

The perpetrators were also fined, according to the lawyer.

The shocking gang rape: The verdict “was not strict”

For him, however, the verdict was not “strict”, as charges of trafficking are punishable by up to 30 years behind bars. The lawyer noted that he will file an appeal in the case, as broadcast by the Daily Mail.

“The victim is still receiving treatment and what she went through will remain in her for the rest of his life,” the lawyer noted.

Following the release of the video with Okkarou describing the abuse she experienced in 2018, the parents of two men who raped and tortured her accused her of having a “bad reputation” in the area. At that time, the parents claimed that the girl was lying and that “she wanted what” happened to her. Doctors reported that the girl was seriously affected by these accusations.
