Before leaving Athens, an unknown person tried to photograph the documents of NEXTA founder Roman Protasevich. This is reported by the Telegram channel NEXTA and publishes a screenshot with Protasevich’s messages.
The opposition blogger’s last messages before the arrest say that at the airport of Athens, from where Protasevich flew to Vilnius, he was watched by a man who gave the impression that he was a state security officer: “The geb at the airport was grabbing me for a hike.”
The suspicious man tried to photograph Protasevich’s documents, and then, when his turn came to check his documents, he simply left.
- Earlier today, on May 23, a Ryanair plane on the Athens-Vilnius flight was urgently landed in Belarus, allegedly due to a message about mining. The founder of the largest Belarusian opposition Telegram channel NEXTA Roman Protasevich, who was on board, was detained.
- The leader of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya called the detention of Protasevich an operation of Lukashenka’s special services.
