Today the developers at 4A Games announced an update for Metro Exodus. On next-gen consoles this will be the update, and on PC it will be released as a standalone game.
The essence of the update is improved effects using ray tracing. Moreover, on a PC version of Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition will work exclusively with video cards that support ray tracing.

What I can say with confidence is that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are currently running our code at roughly the same performance and resolution. As far as the GeForce RTX 30 series is concerned, these cards are incomparable – they are in a different league for ray tracing performance. AMD’s hybrid ray-tracing approach is inherently different in capabilities, especially for divergent rays. On the other hand, it is more flexible, and there are many (probably not yet discovered) approaches to tailor it to specific needs, which is always good for consoles and ultimately console gamers. At 4A Games, we already do custom traversal, ray caching, and direct access to BLAS triangular sheets, which would not be possible on a PC.
Thus, several nuances can be distinguished. Firstly, the updated Metro Exodus should work approximately equally well on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Seires X. Secondly, GeForce RTX 30 video cards, apparently, stand out in performance when working with ray tracing against the background of AMD solutions, but the latter’s approach is more flexible, which may allow developers to better or more easily implement their ideas.
