The HarmonyOS operating system is currently installed on more than 150 million Huawei and HONOR smartphones. According to the company, 135 devices have already received an update to the stable version, and a beta version of the system is available for another 6 devices. However, all these gadgets are located in China, while the global version of HarmonyOS is not yet available outside the country. But soon everything will change.
In a recent interview, Huawei’s head of consumer business in Romania, Derek Yu, said that the international launch of HarmonyOS will take place in 2022. These are the first official statements from the company regarding the release of the global version of the system. As of today, Huawei has EMUI, which has recently been updated to version 12 and is available to users around the world. Apparently, they will remain on EMUI until next year. After upgrading from Android to HarmonyOS, overall performance improved by 10%, according to a Huawei executive. The company is now preparing the third version of its platform, testing of which will begin in the first quarter of next year.
Huawei officially launched HarmonyOS for smartphones, tablets and smartwatches in June 2021. As of the beginning of this month, it had over 150 million users in China. Obviously, by the end of this year, this system will have more than 300 million users, given its largest update.
