The Google Play website now looks completely new. Close to Material You

Google has launched a massive redesign of the web version of the Google Play Store, which has been testing since the fall of 2021. It seems that the update is international and available to users around the world, but the rollout has traditionally taken place in a phased mode, so only a few can appreciate the innovations now. The search giant has tidied up the look of icons and redesigned all elements: the main page, navigation, sections, fonts, account menus, and the color palette has also changed.

The Google Play website began to look like a mobile application and moved closer to the actual visual language of Material You. The background is pure white instead of grey. The sidebar has been replaced by tabs at the top of the screen: Games, Applications, Movies, Books, and a children’s section. Apps and games are now categorized by device type (smartphone, tablet, TV, Chromebook, watch, car), and entertainment content is conveniently sorted – for example, you can search for movies by movie studios, e-books or audio books.

Application and game icons are still placed in a carousel style, their shape has also been unified for a more organic look. Added a “Data Security” section to the description page, showing what data about users the apps collect and share. In the same place, Google tells what the collection is for, how the developers protect privacy and whether they share the information they receive with third parties. Under the name, the rating, the number of downloads and the allowable age for the parental control function are immediately displayed.

Other important changes include: game and movie covers have been enlarged, made animated with a link to the trailer, and stretched to the full width of the page; apps and games for kids are teacher-approved and age-appropriate; library and devices, payments and subscriptions, moved to a separate menu; the large search field has been transformed into a compact button in the profile area.
