Spain has refused to allow a ship carrying weapons bound for Israel to dock in Cartagena, Transport Minister Oscar Puente has announced. The Marianne Danica was carrying a cargo of arms for Israel and requested permission to dock at the port of Cartagena on May 21, the minister said in a post on Platform X. According to El Pais newspaper, the ship was carrying nearly 27 tons of explosives from Madras, India. The State Department, which Puente said denied the request, did not immediately respond to repeated requests for comment. Danica Maritime, the company that manages the Marianne Danica, also did not respond. The decision came amid conflict between Spain's Socialist Party and its leftist partners in government over the passage of weapons-carrying ships to Israeli ports. Source: RES
