A 17 -year -old politically active girl, a member of the Youth of the Social Democratic Party (Jusos), has been targeted by authorities in a case that has caused a political shock in Germany – not only for the accusations but also for the way police and justice have moved. The young Nela Krussinsky, president of Jusos in the city of Menden, Zauerland, received a surprise police investigation in her own home early on the morning of April 1st. Reason? Graffiti against the then candidate (and today’s Chancellor) of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Friedrich Mertz, on a wall of a local cultural association.
