The great adventure of “La Cucina di casa italiana” continues towards UNESCO

During the meeting, which was attended by some representatives of the scientific committee of the candidacy chaired by Professor Massimo Montanari and in the presence of Professor Pier Luigi Petrillo, one of the highest Unesco experts in the country, the objective of the recognition was presented. In July 2020, La Cucina Italiana, a brand that has existed since 1929 and published by Condé Nast Italia, launches the first issue of its history, dedicating the cover to a character: Massimo Bottura, three-star Michelin chef, opinion leader followed internationally, who is entrusted with the direction of the number itself.

Goal of the director Maddalena Fossati: to awaken the forces in the country, to verify the possibility of working on the project for the candidacy of the Italian kitchen as an intangible heritage of humanity to Unesco, to create a system, to awaken national pride. Niko Romito and Antonino Cannavacciuolo, for a memorable trip to the Italy of the bell towers. In January 2021, a scientific committee was set up that includes the most significant names in Italian culture to represent the different facets of the contents of the candidacy: the president Massimo Montanari, the professor Giovanna Frosini of the bran academy, the food historian and of Italian gastronomy Alberto Capatti, the president of the Casa Artusi Foundation Laila Tentoni, the president of the Italian Academy of Cuisine Prof. Paolo Petroni, the Professor of Tourism Management and president of the Italian Food and Wine Tourism Association Roberta Garibaldi, the anthropologist Vito Teti, the Professor Emeritus of History of the Italian Language Luca Serianni, the architect Luisa Bocchietto Senator World Design Organization and the support of the Central Institute for Intangible Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and ANCI, the National Association of Italian Municipalities. The work is in full swing, and the goal is to be able to officially present the candidacy dossier at the next part-session in March 2022.
