The Great Debate: see if it is worth investing in state stocks

The behavior of publicly traded state-owned companies has been volatile since the elections. The privatization forecast boosted the shares of Copel, an energy company from Paraná, and pulled together the shares of Sabesp, water and sewage manager in São Paulo, and Cemig, an electric company in Minas Gerais.

But while state-owned companies rose, with predictions that more right-wing governments could privatize companies, federal state-owned companies fell, such as Petrobras and Banco do Brasil, with the market seeing a greater risk of government interference.

In the face of ups and downs, rumors of privatization or greater political interference, is it worth buying shares in state-owned companies? And what are the differences between state and federal?

In The Great Debate-Investments this Monday (5), on the one hand, Bruno Mori, economist and partner at Sarfin, who advocates buying shares in state-owned companies. On the other, Michael Viriato, strategist at Casa do Investidor, who prefers shares in the private sector.
