The Great Debate: See if it’s time to invest in retail stocks

Brazilian retail has already had good sales seasons and times of exponential growth. The sector opened 204,000 new stores in Brazil in 2021, according to the National Confederation of Commerce in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC). This result led the country to achieve the best annual advance in the sector since 2018.

On the stock market, 2021 was not such a good year for the sector, which saw stocks plummet with the economy skating. With the real salary in fall, pressured by the Selic passing the double digits, the sector is discouraged.

After all, is this a good time to invest in retail stocks?

To address the matter, this Monday’s Great Debate-Investment (4) welcomes Isabel Lemos, Equity manager at Fator Administração de Recursos, who argues that this is a good time for this type of investment and, Alexandre Cancherini, manager Equity analyst at Frontier Capital, who points out an advantage in investing in other assets.

“The Great Debate – Investments” will always have the presence of two specialists with opposing views to debate the pros and cons of different investment options and solutions, as well as topics from the world of personal finance and the financial market.

The attraction is weekly and airs on Mondays at 9:20 pm.
