“I’ll just ask one question: how do you know that the Bitcoin supply will end at 21 million coins? Have you all read the algorithms carefully? Do you guys all believe this? I don’t. And I’ve always been a skeptic about that claim,” Dimon said.
The CEO of JPMorgan noted that a strict limit on the number of BTC is not explicitly mentioned in the code. It is obtained by summing up all the coins that the code allows to be put into circulation over a certain time.
The financier added that the code provides for the technical ability to make changes if the Bitcoin community agrees to it. This may happen if there is a need to update the software in order to release more than 21 million BTC to support miners.
Previously, Jamie Dimon said that he respects the wishes of crypto investors seeking to buy digital currencies, but he himself would never buy Bitcoin or anything else like that.
