According to iFengNews, citing several knowledgeable informants at once, the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is planning to start production of electric vehicles, considering this as a strategic decision.
Sources add that the project is still at an early stage of development, so things like design, specifications and so on have not yet been approved. According to someone familiar with the matter, the project is directly led by Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun. The company did not comment on these rumors.

Back in 2013, Lei Jun visited the United States twice to meet with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Over the years, his interest in this area has only grown. Xiaomi has decided to expand its already considerable range of products as the smartphone market is stagnating, while the market for smart electric vehicles is actively growing. Analysts expect it to grow rapidly in the coming years.
As a reminder, Xiaomi has always been proud of its huge R&D department that can prove itself in this large-scale project.
According to Microsoft founder and former CEO Bill Gates, we need Elon Muskie in every industry.
