The house of your dreams! Couple changed her house for a bus where they live and travel

Most married couples work hard until they fulfill the dream of stopping paying rent and having a home of their own. But as the years go by, this becomes much more complicated, since the cost of housing is getting higher and mortgage loans are getting lower.

However, there are couples who do not give up and save until they get the house of their dreams. Just like these adventurous husbands from England did, who invested all their savings to convert a double-decker bus into their home so they could travel all over Europe.

It is about the British Gareth and Lamorna Hollingsworth, who shortly after getting married in February 2020, came to the conclusion that they both wanted to travel and get to know the entire European continent. So they got to work and after seeing a 1997 Scania bus for sale for $5,224 through the eBay portal, they decided to buy it and start their greatest adventure.

After purchasing the truck, it took the happy couple two years to adapt and remodel it into their new home, investing a total of $27,000.

The bus runs on solar power and the electrical connections are made using lithium batteries and solar panels. On the first floor, it has an equipped kitchen that also has a fully functional oven; It also has several separate environments between a small room and a room. While the second floor has a fireplace, a toilet and a composting shower.

It was important for us to be completely self-sufficient. Our solar configuration skips us nearly four kilowatts of battery storage, enough for almost a week of use.

The couple has chosen to keep the style minimalist, using wood paneling to create a more welcoming environment. Although it has been a great challenge, all the effort they have put into this project has been worth it, since it has been their dream since they met traveling from backpack it by abroad.

Think of this as a small house instead of a caravan. We chose a bus because we wanted enough space to live comfortably, but still be able to move around.

To get the necessary driver’s license for their mobile home, Gareth and Lamorna had to completely remove the old floors, ceilings and walls of the truck in order to replace them with new ones and add a water tank that allows them to carry on with everyday life.

Among the things that the bus has, a multifunctional office and a lounge stand out. In addition, it has a double bed with fitted wardrobes. Both have been in charge of caring and thinking about even the smallest detail.

In addition to fulfilling their dream of combining having their own home with their love of traveling, the couple is extremely satisfied, since they will be free of mortgages and have jobs that make them happy.

Most people are envious or think we’re crazy. There are a lot of hassles that come with driving double deckers, but the challenge is part of the fun. We will be free of mortgages, we will have a house on wheels and we will be free to see the world and enjoy its delights.

For now, Gareth and Lamorna live in a trailer next to the bus, along with their dog, Maya. The couple is eager to embark on their journey and complete their life plan, which involves eventually wanting to settle in Spain or Portugal.
