The new feature film in the “Hunger Games” saga, “The Song of Birds and Serpents” (2023), entered the Prime Video catalog this Wednesday (29). The film is based on the book of the same name by Suzane Collins, released in 2020.
Both the book and the film are a prequel to the trilogy of books of the same name, also adapted for film, and features a story set 64 years before the events of the first work.
The first film, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson was released in 2012.
The story features the fictional state Panem, which controls 12 districts and, annually, forces each of them to choose a boy and a girl, known as “tributes”, to compete in a televised reality show.
In the event, young people are placed in arenas to fight to the death, so that only one emerges victorious.
The three books in the saga were adapted into four films of the same name. The last book, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay”, is divided into part one and part two.

In addition to the new feature, Prime Video also contains the other four original films in the franchise, as does Netflix. Max (formerly HBO Max) has the first film in its catalogue.
