“I was so hungry, thirsty and cold and I was praying to see some kind of light,” he told the Guardian. Just about 60 hours later, rescuers found Oakin alive where he had been trapped. He was transported back to land with a diving helmet and diving suit and did not face any serious health problems after his incredible test.
Paul McDonald, a member of the lifeboat, was puzzled by how Oakain managed to survive. “One can not know how it was not full of water. “I would say that someone took care of him,” he said. After the incident, Okain returned to his job as a cook, but stated that he would not return to the sea due to the traumatic experience he went through.
