From Tuesday, May 3, 2022, the intermediate discounts will start in the commercial stores and the stores can be optionally open on Sunday, May 8, 2022.
On the occasion of the start of the intermediate discounts and the festive days, the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce, Stavros Kafounis, made the following statement:
“Expressing the demand of all businessmen and consumer representatives, I hope this will be the last time the obsolete institution of intermediate discounts is implemented, which creates distortions in the market and does not allow lower initial prices to be set for all types of beginning of the season. Happy Resurrection all over the world but also in the long-suffering market “.
Optionally open on Sunday 8 May
It is reminded by the trade association that, by decision of the Ministry of Labor, the May Day holiday is postponed this year to Monday, May 2, 2022.
It is also reminded that the intermediate spring discount period, with the current legal framework, lasts 15 calendar days from 1 to 15 May. Therefore, this year the Intermediate Discounts will start on Tuesday, May 3rd.
During the intermediate discounts, in addition to the indication of the old and the new reduced price of the goods and services that are sold at a discount, the indication and the commercial communication of the discount percentage is allowed.
Finally, with a circular of the Ministry of Development and Investment, the stores can operate optionally on Sunday, May 8, with proposed opening hours 11:00 ‘- 18:00’ proposed by the Athens Chamber of Commerce.
