The Iranian president’s visit to Ankara was suddenly and without explanation postponed

The scheduled visit of his president Iran Ebrahim Raisi in Turkey it was finally postponed, as reported by the Iranian Tasnim news agency on Tuesday (11/28), without specifying the reasons.

“The trip was scheduled to take place on Wednesday but was postponed to another date” the agency pointed out, as reported by the Athens News Agency citing AFP and Reuters.

Earlier today the Turkish presidency had announced the postponement of Raisi’s visit without giving any other details.

“The aim of the visit is for Ankara and Tehran to agree on a common position on the war in Gaza,” Erdogan had said

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had announced in mid-November the visit of his Iranian counterpartpointing out that its goal is for Ankara and Tehran to agree on a common position on war in Gaza.

“President Ibrahim Raisi is coming to Turkey on November 28,” Erdogan told reporters accompanying him on the plane on his return from a regional summit in Riyadh on November 11.

Turkish media was referring to this visit until yesterday. On Sunday, the two leaders had a telephone conversation.
