The governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev signed an order on the procedure for identifying hidden mining, designated as “illegal activity in mining digital currency.”

According to the order, the procedure for detecting hidden mining should be applied by electricity suppliers and electric grid companies. In turn, the regional headquarters to ensure the safety of power supply each quarter will transmit information about suspicious consumers in the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.

As signs of hidden mining are indicated:

  • stable and excessively high energy consumption in the summer;

  • lack of seasonal and daily fluctuations;

  • consumption several times higher than similar objects.

In addition, complaints of houses of houses, re -equipment of the cooling or electrical wiring system, heavy noise and heat release may be as additional signals requiring verification.

At the disposal it is indicated that all consumer addresses with signs of cryptocurrency extraction will be included in a special list. After the 10th day of each month, the list will be sent to energy and law enforcement agencies. If the fact of illegal mining is confirmed, restrictions on the supply of electricity may be introduced, up to the complete termination of power supply.

Earlier, the police of the Irkutsk region detained a local resident who is suspected of organizing a fraudulent “mining hotel”. According to law enforcement officers, he, along with the accomplices, sold equipment transferred by customers for accommodation in the data center, and assigned the money. The damage amounted to more than 270 million rubles.
