Poland announced today that Israel's ambassador to Warsaw has finally apologized after an Israeli attack that killed a Polish worker at the World Central Kitchen aid group in Gaza. Damian Sobol, a volunteer from southeastern Poland, was among seven aid workers from Jose Andres' organization killed in the central Gaza Strip on Monday. “I delivered a note of protest to the ambassador. The ambassador apologized for the incident, which has no precedent in the history of the civilized world,” said Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Seyna. Israeli ambassador Yakov Livne will not be expelled from Poland, he clarified. Warsaw has asked the Polish prosecutor's office to take part in the investigation in Israel and to prosecute the soldiers involved, the deputy foreign minister added. “We want the Polish prosecutor's office to be involved and participate in the explanation process and the whole criminal and disciplinary process against the soldiers responsible for this murder,” he said.
