The Deputy Minister in charge of State Aid and Rehabilitation from Natural Disasters, Christos Triantopoulos, said: of the Government the Joint Ministerial Decision for the implementation of the special support regime for the breeders of Northern Evia.

This is a regime that, in a wide-ranging meeting with local farmers, was announced and aims to further increase compensation for livestock farms affected by the summer fire, both by ELGA and the Ministry of Finance. , but also support in the field of feed supply. This is because the significant burden on the livestock sector is recognized due to the wider aggravating conditions that have arisen after the catastrophic fire. Under this decision, de minimis state aid is provided to farmers who were directly and indirectly affected by last summer’s major fires. In particular, the support of the livestock farms of the farmers by profession is foreseen with 40 euros per sheep and goat in the directly affected livestock farms and with 20 euros per sheep and goat in the indirectly affected livestock farms.

With the Joint Ministerial Decision on the special support regime for the breeders of Northern Evia, the government continues to implement its plan for the targeted support of specific productive sectors of the region, in combination with the implementation of horizontal support measures, such as business subsidies. and agricultural holdings for the damage suffered by the summer fires and the exemption from ENFIA. We continue in close cooperation with all the competent bodies for the support of the victims and the restoration of the damages in the area “.

According to government officials, according to the Joint Ministerial Decision, breeders eligible for de minimis state aid must meet the following conditions: 20 adult female sheep and goats (over one year), (b) have insured their livestock in ELGA in 2021 and (c) are mainly farmers, while non-primary farmers are entitled to 50% of the aid received by mainly farmers.

It is also clarified that the directly affected are the breeders who have applied to ELGA for compensation for the loss of livestock from the fire, until the publication of this Joint Ministerial Decision. Indirectly affected are considered breeders who have not applied until the publication of this Joint Ministerial Decision to ELGA compensation for the loss of livestock from the fire. Finally, the relevant procedures are launched in the coming days for the realization of the payments, with the competent body for the granting of the aid being the Organization for the Payment and Control of Community Guidance and Guarantee Aid (OPEKEPE).
