On Sunday, Goodkov wrote on the social media channel Telegram that he had left Russia, after receiving warnings from people with access to the Kremlin that he was about to be re-arrested for a criminal case, as a suspect.
Dmitry Goodkov, a 41-year-old former member of the State Duma, was arrested last Tuesday on charges of damaging foreign property in a commercial space he rented in a Moscow municipality building, the Athens State Duma news agency reported.

Goodkov attributed the prosecution to him in an attempt to bar him from running in the September parliamentary elections. The Kremlin, for its part, has said that such political arrests have nothing to do with political activity, nor does it seek to clear the field of political opponents.
Goodkov and his aunt Irina Yermilova are suspected of damaging foreign property, specifically a commercial space they had leased and belonged to the Moscow Municipality. They were prosecuted on May 28 by the Investigative Directorate of the Moscow Interior Ministry. Earlier the police had conducted inquiries in Guenthov’s home and its relatives houses.
