“The Last of Us”: Isabela Merced shares details of season 2

The recording of the second season of “The Last of Us” are in full swing. Isabella Merced, protagonist of “Dora and the Lost City” (live-action of “Dora the Explorer”), which is confirmed in production as the character Dina from the game of the same name to the series, shared more details about what will be covered in the next episodes.

Dina appears in the second game, which takes place five years after the events covered in the first. She becomes friends with Ellie (Bella Ramsey ) as soon as the girl arrives in her community, along with Joel (Pedro Pascal ). In an interview with the website collider, Isabela Merced said she was called directly by the “The Last of Us” team for the role.

“Neil and Craig [Mazin] They contacted my team and said, 'We want to find you for 'The Last of Us.' And my team said, 'Hey, what role for?'. And they didn't specify. They just said, 'Make her watch the game on YouTube.' And I thought, 'I want to play.' And then, we had a meeting and they proposed my character”, said Merced.

“I'm a fan of the series. I hadn't actually played the game until I found out I could be in it, but I only played the second game and it was a great experience. People say, 'How much fun did you have playing? It's a very sad story.' But it's so well done. Your heart starts racing, your hands get sweaty, and you can barely hold the controller. It’s an incredible experience,” said the actress.

Isabela Merced also detailed her role in the second season, especially her character's interaction with Ramsey's.

“I'm so excited for people to see my chemistry with Bella. Bella and I have a lot of chemistry. From day one, it was there. There is no work to be done. I really respect Bella. And I've witnessed on set Catherine Called Birdy and Bella have so much honesty about their work that I'm learning so much and I'm so honored to be here,” she concluded.

The series is set 20 years after modern civilization was destroyed, where Joel, a seasoned survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie out of a quarantine zone. The two must cross the United States and fight to survive against monsters infected by a fungus.

The 2nd season of “The Last of Us” does not yet have a date to premiere on the Max subscription channel.
