The last person involved in the death of a police officer during a robbery in SP is arrested in MG

The last suspect involved in the death of police officer Mauro Guimarães Soares, who worked for 35 years in the Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic), was arrested by the Military Police of Minas Gerais this Saturday (28), in the city of Extrema, in the south of the state .

According to the Public Security Secretariat, the 28-year-old man will undergo a custody hearing and be transferred to the capital of São Paulo.

The crime took place last Saturday morning (21), in Vila Romana, west of São Paulo.

The suspect was on one of the two motorcycles used in the crime. He was protecting his partner and fled during the exchange of gunfire.

According to a witness who worked on the street at the time of the incident and had his car hit by gunfire, shortly after the incident, the person who fired the shot that killed the deputy, despite being shot, tried to escape, but was restrained by people.

He was arrested at the scene and taken to University Hospital, where he was taken into custody.

In addition to the two who were at the scene of the crime, on Monday (23), the police arrested a third party involved, who was reportedly providing logistical support to the duo. The arrest took place in Diadema, in ABC São Paulo.

Images from the site’s security cameras obtained by CNN show the moment when Soares was walking with his wife, who is also a police officer, and reacted to being approached by two criminals on a motorcycle.

The case was registered as a robbery in the 91st Police District (Ceasa) and remains under investigation by Deic to clarify other details.
