The General Prosecutor Iowa Brenna Bird announced the entry into force of the new law that protects local users of cryptomats from fraud.

According to the law, the inhabitants of Aiova, who first used cryptomats and sent money through them to scammers, may require a complete return of funds. To do this, within 90 days after the transaction, they must submit an appropriate request to the device operator and report fraudulent activities to law enforcement agencies.

The user can count on a return of funds if he was really deceived by the scammers, impending himself as a civil servant, technical support service, law enforcement officer, friend or relative. This also includes romantic fraud, when a new acquaintance convinces a person to direct his money through a cryptomat under a false pretext. To get a refund, it is recommended to maintain correspondence, receipts and any transaction data to victims of fraud.

As for the cryptomat operators themselves, they must set a daily limit on transactions not exceeding $ 1000, and a total limit of $ 10,000 within 30 days after the first transaction. Cryptomats are prohibited from charging a commission of more than $ 5 or 15% of the cost of the transaction, depending on what is greater. In addition, cryptomats are required to publish warnings about possible fraud with digital assets.

In March, the Prosecutor General of Aiova Brenna Bard sued two Bitcoin Depot and Coinflip cryptomas, accusing them of promoting cryptocurrency fraud and the collection of high commissions. Recently, the Coinme cryptomats operator paid a fine of $ 300,000 for violating day limits for withdrawing funds and non -compliance with the laws of California.
