The leadership of the Green Party in Germany has resigned

His resignation was submitted a while ago by the Greens board, the outgoing co-chairs Ricardo Lang and Omid Nuripour announced. “It is time for new hands,” the two politicians said and referred to the November congress to elect a new leadership. Mr Nuripour justified the leadership’s decision by referring to the disastrous result in the Brandenburg election, where the Greens were left out of parliament. The same thing happened at the beginning of the month in Thuringia. The Greens are in their “worst crisis of the last decade”, he said. In the polls, the party is limited to single digits for the first time in seven years. The “Table.Media” website mentions as possible successors to the current leadership the Deputy Minister of Economy Franziska Brattner and the federal parliamentarian and former head of the party’s youth Felix Banaszczak.
