The presidents of Lebanon and the Palestinian authority today assured, during their meeting in Beirut, that there would be no longer weapons in Lebanon not controlled by the state, whose power, however, does not currently cover the Palestinian refugee camps. Mahmoud Abbas has been making his first visit to Lebanon since 2017, at a time when Beirut seeks to expand its power throughout the country and mainly to Palestinian camps where almost 220,000 refugees are housed.
