The Leica M10-P, M10-R and M10 Monochrom cameras now feature perspective distortion correction

Leica has released firmware updates for several rangefinder cameras. Among other improvements, this update adds the ability to correct perspective distortion using the camera itself.

The Perspective Control feature, which appeared in firmware for the Leica M10-P, M10-R and M10 Monochrom cameras, says the manufacturer “provides straighter vertical lines and a straighter horizon for a natural looking image – especially in architectural images.” The correction is said to use “the actual pan angles of the camera and lens used”. An example of how the function works is shown in the illustration. The image without correction is on the left, with correction on the right.
