The level of collective immunity against the coronavirus reached 53.7%, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova announced today, clarifying that according to the data of December 3, 72 million citizens have received the first dose of the vaccine and 64 million and the two doses.
The level of collective immunity last week was 51.8%, according to the government body responsible for dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
In terms of the level of collective immunity, the leaders, said Golikova, are Sevastopol with 80.8%, which is the desired level, while the level of immunity in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Karelia, Tiouva and Tsukotka is in 72%.
The deputy prime minister of the Russian government pointed out that in most parts of the country the situation remains tense and this means that the coronavirus is still spreading, and therefore the people should be vaccinated as soon as possible.
The Russian Consumer Health Regulatory Authority (Rospotrebnadzor) had earlier stated that in order to achieve collective immunity in Russia, at least 80% of the adult population would have to be vaccinated. According to Golikova, this means that more than 90 million people need to be vaccinated.
