The list will include four additional applications – an application for reading and listening to books, an online store, a service for music and radio, as well as for video conferencing. The exact names have not yet been specified. If the amendments are approved in all the necessary instances, then the changes will come into force on March 1, 2022. It is not yet clear if these changes will only affect smartphones, or also tablets, smart TVs and computers.

Recall that on April 1, 2021, a law came into force in Russia, obliging to install certain Russian-developed applications on smartphones and other devices. The law applies to smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, laptops and personal computers manufactured and / or sold on April 1, 2021 and later.

The list of mandatory for smartphones and tablets includes 16 applications: Yandex.Browser, Yandex search engine, Yandex.Disk, Yandex.Maps, Mail.ru Mail, ICQ, Marusya voice assistant, Mail.ru News, OK Live , VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, MirPay (Android only), Gosuslugi, MyOffis Documents, Kaspersky Internet Security (Android only) and Applist.ru.

In August, changes to the list were approved, which will take effect from January 1, 2022. From the New Year, the requirements will apply to Apple computers – desktops and laptops with the macOS operating system, not just Windows PCs. Also, the OK Video service has been added to the list of mandatory software for TVs.
