“The Living Cemetery”: Former prisoners reveal torture in the El Salvador prisoner

Former prisoners in a secret “super-prison” in El Salvador after their deportation from the US are talking to the BBC about harsh torture and inhumane detention conditions. Arturo Suarez says he was beaten by the guards as soon as he reached the infamous CECOT prisons of El Salvador. When he recovered, with his broken glasses, everything was blurry, he says, but heard clearly the greeting: “Welcome to hell. Welcome to the living cemetery of the living. From here you will only leave dead. ” Arturo says that the one who spoke to him was Prison Director Bellarmino Garcia.
