The Måneskin and the European tour sold out in two hours: why we like them so much

Everyone wants them and everyone is looking for them. From the triumph at the Sanremo Festival to the exploit of the Eurovision Song Contest, the star of Moonlight it is still far from being tarnished and, even if the detractors are not lacking, to put everyone in agreement are the numbers: in just 2 hours, all the European concerts of the band in February and March 2022 sold out, making us understand how much the Måneskin phenomenon, rather than Italian, has now become international. From the concert scheduled for February 6 in London to the closing one in Riga on March 14, the band formed by Damiano, Victoria, Ethan and Thomas, came second in X Factor in 2017, it has no intention of stopping. On the contrary. Together with the thirteen dates sold out in a short time, the wait is all for historical date of July 9th, the one that will bring the Måneskin to perform at the Circus Maximus in Rome, the city that in Via del Corso had offered them the first open-air stage before the big bang.

Strengthened by the success of the Global Citizen Live in Paris and of the new collaboration with Gucci, the group looks to the future with two tours – the first Italian, Moonlight Live, that will see them busy this winter and next year in the sports halls on thirteen dates, all sold out; and the second European, Loud Kids on Tour, which will take them to England, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, France, Switzerland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Russia, Estonia – and the same humility that has always accompanied them. Despite being the quintessence of post-modern rock and appearing overconfident, even aggressive on stage, Måneskin’s real strength has always been to stay grounded. “We try to focus on the most enthusiastic part of it, enjoy the new incredible results. All of this brings with it an extra amount of pressure, but we don’t want to be first at all costs for the rest of our lives: we want to make our own music and not see where it comes in the charts. We will continue to make sure that it is the music that guides us and not the other way around, we don’t want to chase the result “Måneskin told us after the announcement of the tour and all the records collected so far, such as being among the 15 most listened to artists in the world on Spotify with over 2.5 billion streaming on all digital platforms.

Thanks to their charisma, to an album of rare power like Theater of Wrath – Vol. 1, and the inclusive battle celebrated in Pride Issue from Vanity Fair, it is clear that the Måneskin have all the credentials not only to break through, but also to ensure that their success remains stable over time. The disruption in devouring the stage, the elegance in responding to infamous accusations of drug use at the Eurovision final, and a humility that seems to go against the trend compared to the damned rockers of yesterday, make the group a unicum to study, close to apparently provocative canons – from high heels to dark eyeliner – but very distant in substance and excess. Like it or not, as Italians, we can only be proud of these four guys who are raising our flag in the world by conquering a music scene that, for too many years, has only been the prerogative of others.
