In total, in the first five months of this year, traffic at the AIA amounted to 6.5 million passengers and remained reduced by 24.4% compared to 2019.
Domestic passengers remained below 2019 levels by 16.9% and international passengers by 27.8%.
During the summer, Athens Airport will serve 8 new destinations (Bilbao, Birmingham, Boston, Florence, Eindhoven, Leipzig, Nis and Turin), six new airlines (Jet2, Condor, Flyr, AirAlbania, Euroflyer and TUS 44 new itineraries.
In fact, a large increase in scheduled flights is expected from some key, for Greek tourism, markets compared to 2019. Specifically, from the US the increase will amount to 60%.
In total, at Greek airports and according to data from the CAA, the total number of passengers handled rose, in the first five months, to 14 million, showing an increase of 377.7%, compared to the corresponding period of 2021, where 2 , 9 million passengers, while compared to the corresponding period of 2019, a decrease of 14%.
