The Matrix robotic brain is expected to replace pilots in Black Hawk helicopters

Black Hawk helicopters are expected to soon become autonomous and pilotless, replaced by a robotic brain called the Matrix that will fully control the craft. Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, works with the US military for the above reason and even received a $6 million award from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for the system it developed. According to a publication in Interesting Engineering, Sikorsky built an experimental Black Hawk with the robotic brain installed, so that relevant tests can be done that are said to be effective. “Soldiers will rely on Black Hawk helicopters until 2070, and modernizing the aircraft today will pay off for decades,” said a related press release.
