The Foreign Ministers of Cyprus and Israel are in Athens, in order to participate in the Tripartite Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Greece, Israel and Cyprus.

At 10:40 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Ioannis Kasoulidis crossed the threshold of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias. The two foreign ministers headed to the office of Nikos Dendias, where their one-on-one meeting is currently underway. At the end of it, extended talks will follow. As part of the co-ordination between Athens and Nicosia, talks are expected to focus on the Cyprus issue, the situation in Ukraine and developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Afterwards, around 12:55, Nikos Dendias will receive at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, his Israeli counterpart Gair Lapid, with whom he will also have private and extended talks. Talks between the Greek and Israeli Foreign Ministers are expected to cover the situation in Ukraine, developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, as well as close Greek-Israeli cooperation in all areas.

After the end of the private meetings, around 15:10, the extended talks will follow in the framework of the Tripartite Meeting of the Foreign Ministers. Talks between the three countries’ Foreign Ministers are expected to focus on further strengthening their close cooperation in various fields, such as energy, civil protection, economy and the fight against terrorism, with the ultimate goal of promoting peace, security, stability and prosperity. in the Eastern Mediterranean. The three ministers are also expected to address security challenges in the wider region, as well as the scope for expanding co-operation with other states. Joint statements to the press will follow around 16:15.

It is noted that the Tripartite Meeting follows the corresponding Meeting held in Jerusalem last August, as well as the Summit that also took place in Jerusalem last December.
