Legislative innovations that allowed the government to ban mining helped to remove cryptocurrencies from the gray zone, the minister said. Companies involved in the extraction of virtual assets began to pay taxes to the state budget, the official added
“From the point of view of mining, I believe that this law had a very positive impact on the energy of the Russian Federation as a whole. He made it possible for us to load the capacities of our generating stations – they are not completely loaded everywhere, ”said Tsivilev.
The head of the ministry recalled that the ban on mining operates in the south of the Irkutsk region, in the Trans -Baikal Territory and Buryatia, as well as in the North Caucasus – and he had a positive effect:
“We closed mining in the autumn-winter period in order to compensate for the peaks that pass in the autumn-winter period. We already felt a serious effect. More than 300 MW of power were able to save in peak loads. I think this is a very good result. ”
The restrictions introduced by the government do not prevent the development of energy industry and its investment attractiveness, the construction of new data processing centers (data centers) is not prohibited, and the work to improve the infrastructure will continue, promised the Minister of Energy.
Earlier, the Russian government, at the proposal of the Prosecutor General’s Office, ordered to conduct in 2026 a verification of the execution by miners of the legislation on the restriction of free circulation of cryptocurrencies, monitor the legal status of miners and persons organizing the work of mining pools.
