The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, asked for the support of Latin American countries

Her foreign minister Ukrainian, Dmytro Kulebaasked all its countries Latin America to support his country and to condemn Russia’s “aggression”. yesterday Thursday (11/5), concluding his two-day visit to Guatemala.

During a press conference, Mr. Kouleba denounced the “neutrality” observed by the governments of countries in the region, judging that they favor “the continuation of the attack” by Russia.

“We believe that Latin American countries should adopt Guatemala’s position and condemn the attack” of Russia, he insisted.

Guatemala is among the few countries in the region to express support for Ukraine since the start of the Russian military invasion of its territory on February 24, 2022. Five months later, Guatemalan President Alejandro Yamate visited Kyiv in a show of solidarity.

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy criticized the Latin American governments who consider that “it is best to remain neutral” and those who “say this war is Europe’s problem”.

Mr. Kuleba attended the 9th meeting of Caribbean Heads of State and Government in the city of Antigua Guatemala (southwest) as an invited guest.

“Russia will lose this war and pay for the crimes of this war”the Ukrainian Foreign Minister also stated.

For his part, President Yamatey assured that “Guatemala will continue to support Ukraine politically and diplomatically”, while wishing that “the war ends quickly and the reconstruction of Ukraine begins”.
