The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia officially supported the idea of creating a special legal regime within Innopolis necessary for the development and free testing of unmanned aerial cargo vehicles for a period of three years, the CNEWS information publication reported, citing its sources. The authors of this project plan to eventually get a full-fledged autonomous drone-based cargo transportation system, which in the near future could be scaled to the entire territory of the country to form a completely new format for the delivery of goods.
The explanatory note to the draft resolution states that a special legal regime allows the unhindered launch of unmanned aerial vehicles with a maximum take-off weight of 30 kilograms to create a new type of transport service. Accordingly, at the moment we are talking about the creation of drones capable of delivering relatively small loads, plus the documentation indicates that aircraft can also be used to perform various aviation work. Similar technologies are being developed, for example, by Amazon, and they have already proven themselves quite well.
