Deputy Head of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation Pavel Snikkars confirmed the department’s intention to introduce differential electricity tariffs for miners. This could happen as early as 2024.

At the Russian Energy Week forum, Snikkars said that there are plans to increase tariffs for miners by 2-5 times. At the same time, differential tariffs should be introduced only in energy-deficient regions in order to encourage them to move to energy-surplus regions. Additional funds will be allocated to Rosseti’s investment program, which will allow the development of Russia’s energy structure.

“These are not the network’s own funds, this is the tariff revenue of a natural monopoly organization, which will be regulated in accordance with all the requirements of the current legislation. We are creating economic incentives so that the socio-economic development of Buryatia, Transbaikalia and the Irkutsk region does not stop until 2029, but also moves forward, this is the main point. We have no goal of making anyone feel bad,” said the deputy head of the Ministry of Energy.

Let us recall that plans to introduce a differential energy tariff for miners became known in September.
