The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan reported on the elimination of 13 mining farms

The Kazakh government launched a campaign to find and disconnect from electricity miners who illegally connected to the networks.

The Kazakh Ministry of Energy said its experts have been able to identify and disable 13 mining farms over the past five days, which officials consider illegal.

Law enforcement agencies are already looking for everyone involved in organizing this business. The total capacity of 13 crypto enterprises amounted to 202 MW. The Energy Ministry said it would continue to look for other similar farms.

Kazakhstan is considered the second country in the world in terms of its share in the global production of bitcoins. In August last year, the country accounted for about 18% of the global hash rate.

In recent months, energy consumption in the republic has grown too noticeably due to miners, officials say. The authorities are concerned about the current state of affairs. On February 8, the President of Kazakhstan ordered an investigation and punishment of those responsible for the spread of illegal mining. In response, the Vice Minister of Kazakhstan, Marat Sultangaziyev, proposed introducing taxes for miners and raising electricity prices for them by 335%.

Recall that yesterday the mining company BIT Mining announced that it was stopping the construction of its data center in Kazakhstan due to restrictions on electricity supply.
