Russian miners are not in a hurry to legalize – less than a third registered in the special register of the Federal Tax Service (Federal Tax Service), said the deputy head of the Ministry of Finance Ivan Chebeskov.

According to the representative of the department, the regulation of mining is necessary to remove the industry from the shadow.

“We have not completed the process yet. So far, only 30% of all miners entered the register, which is conducted by the Federal Tax Service, and this process is still far from completion. Two -thirds are needed to get into and enter the register. We will work to complete this process, ”the official said.

From November 1, 2024, the new provisions of the Law “On Digital Financial Assets” entered into force. Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs involved in the extraction of digital assets are required to register in the special register of the Federal Tax Service. Private persons do not need to do this if they are engaged in mining, using electricity for no more than 6,000 kWh per month.

For the first month of launching the registry, in January, the service received about 150 registration applications. By the end of February, about 600 miners and mining infrastructure operators were registered in the register.

Now coordination of amendments to the Administrative Code, providing fines of up to 2 million rubles for companies that have not registered in the register are undergoing.

Earlier, the Ministry of Finance of Russia proposed taxing equipment for mining equipment and providing computing power for the extraction of cryptocurrencies.
