The Ministry of Internal Affairs will allocate another 350 million rubles for servers with Russian Elbrus processors

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia intends to additionally purchase 80 servers based on Elbrus-8C processors. This was reported by CNews, referring to information from the state procurement website. According to the tender, which was announced on May 19, the ministry is ready to spend the maximum amount of 350 million rubles for the purchase of servers. Applications are accepted until June 4, and the auction itself will be held on June 9. The winner will have to not only supply the equipment, but also install it within 90 days from the date of signing the contract. Another mandatory requirement is the installation of an operating system from a single register of domestic software.

Recently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly buys equipment based on Elbrus processors, focusing on Russian chips in the terms of reference. For example, in March alone, the department purchased 928 servers on Elbrus for the main regional departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in forty regions of Russia. The supplier both then and now was 3Logic, known as the developer of its own computer equipment on domestic processors.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Internal Affairs purchases most of its computers on foreign chips. The publication suggests that the purchase of servers on domestic processors may be associated with the state Plan for guaranteed purchases of domestic civilian microelectronics, which indicates which government agencies and in what volumes should buy domestic equipment.
