The moment a Russian ammunition depot is reduced to ashes by Ukrainian missiles

A ammunition depot inside Russia is on fire this morning as air defenses in two other border areas opened fire amid suspicions that more attacks from Ukraine.

Flames and smoke were seen rising in the sky over the village of Staraya Nelidovka in the Belgorod region in the early hours of the morning.

Meanwhile, air defenses were active over neighboring Kursk and Voronezh regions as Russia said it had shot down Ukrainian drones that had entered its territory.

Ukraine has not commented on the strikes, but follows a pattern of similar attacks against Russia that are widely believed to have been orchestrated by Kyiv. Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region, told the Telegram: “At about 3.35 am I woke up to a loud bang that sounded like an explosion. As I was writing this post, three more explosions were heard. According to the first information, an ammunition depot has caught fire near the village of Staraya Nelidovka “.

No civilian casualties were reported.

Numerous explosions in Belgorod

Meanwhile, residents of Voronezh, more than 100 miles from the border with Ukraine, reported two explosions in the southwest of the city overnight.

A video taken in the early hours of the morning showed what appeared to be the white trail of the exhaust of an air defense missile that crossed the sky, with a cloud of impact hovering in the air.

RIA Novosti, Russia’s main state-run news agency, later claimed that a reconnaissance drone had been shot down.

Explosions were also heard near the city of Kursk, about 60 miles from the border, and video appears to show flames shining in a dark sky. Unconfirmed reports said more drones had been shot down over Oboyan, south of Kursk.

The strikes were followed by a series of bombings inside Russia targeting military bases and infrastructure, which are widely believed to have originated in Kyiv.

Belgorod was the fiercest target, with rocket and helicopter raids targeting fuel depots and ammunition. A railway bridge was also targeted in the same area in a sabotage attack widely suspected by Ukrainian special forces.

Belgorod is a key rallying point for Russian forces fighting in the Donbass region of Ukraine, where a major offensive is under way to occupy eastern Ukraine.

The frequency of attacks has sparked outrage inside Russia, with the Kremlin threatening to intensify attacks on “decision-making centers” in Kyiv in retaliation – a covert threat to target government and military headquarters.
