A security camera recorded frame by frame the shocking attack that a 21-year-old woman received while returning home to New York.
The young woman is now seeking justice, while the police confirmed the attack, which took place outside the victim’s house. Although the authorities did not disclose her name, it became known that she was Nafiah Fatima. A page about her has been made on GoFundMe by her neighbor and friend Shazia Anjum, according to People.
According to police, Fatima was walking to enter the house when “an unknown man” approached her from behind, holding a white glass with a dark substance inside. The man threw the substance in the woman’s face and then ran from the spot.
The attack was recorded by a neighbor security camera and the video was then posted on the GoFundMe page. In the 42-second video, Fatima appears to be unloading something from the car with her mother and following her inside before being attacked by the man at a short distance from the door of the house.
On the GoFundMe page, Anjum reported that they later discovered that the substance was a “dark brown acid known to cause blindness and severe burns. ” She claimed that the perpetrator knew how dangerous she was because she wore gloves all the time and noticed that Fatima, who is student at Hofstra University, almost dying.
“If the acid had entered her lungs she would have died. “When she screamed, the acid went into her mouth, burning her tongue and throat, which prevented her from breathing.”, explained Anjum. “When she ran to her house and her parents saw her, they immediately tried to help her, but the acid burned their own hands as well. “If her parents were not at home to help her and call for help, she would not have made it.”
After the incident, the police reported that the young woman suffered “serious bodily injuries” and was taken to a nearby hospital. She suffered “severe burns” to her face, eyes and body, according to GoFundMe.
