There are now a few days to go until the night of the Oscar 2022. On Sunday 27 March we will find out who will win the most important golden statuette of the year. But during the most awaited awards ceremony in the world of cinema, everyone’s eyes will also be on the horizon on the couples who will parade on the red carpet. Because they too made the history of the Oscars, giving us over the years magical moments in which love was celebrated. Last year, to say, Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal), did not win any statuettes. But on the red carpet she charmed photographers by stopping to fix her wife’s long hair Fatima. “I’m your official hairdresser,” she then joked, showing off smiles and sweet eyes. A year earlier, in February 2020, they had earned the palm of “most beautiful couple” of the night of the Oscars Scarlett Johansson and then-boyfriend Colin Jost. The love that united them, on the red carpet, was palpable. And in fact a few months later, to be precise in October, the two are become husband and wife.
Going much further back in time we (re) discover iconic couples (Liz Taylor and Richard Burton; Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall; Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman), couples broke out (from Nichole Kidman and Tom Cruise to Demi Moore and Bruce Willis), but also forgotten couples. In 2001, for example, Julia Roberts paraded embraced to then boyfriend Benjamin Bratt. Great love ended four months after their first couple red carpet.
Memorable, then, is the shot that he portrays in 2005 Leonardo DiCaprio and Gisele Bundchen. The only woman, apart from her mother, that the star has ever brought to the Oscars. From cinema history too the kiss on the red carpet of the “Original” Bennifer. It was 2003, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck they were due to marry shortly thereafter. As you know, things went differently: the two said goodbye in 2004, one step away from the wedding but since last year they are the protagonists of a beautiful return love.
Leafing through the album of memories means retracing fairytale loves, loves that ended in nightmare (see the ex spouses from years at war in court Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) but also tragic loves. It was 2018 when a very happy Kobe Bryant held the Oscar and his wife Vanessa. Two years later he, who died at 41 in a helicopter crash, was gone.
