Automotive Touch Up experts conducted a survey to find out the most popular car brands and models in different countries. And, I must say, the results of the study are surprising.
The poll showed that Hyundai is at its peak in Syria. There, the Korean brand is preferred by 75% of local models. And in Russia the German Volkswagen is recognized as the “people’s brand”, while in neighboring countries Hyundai, Renault and Toyota are leading. In Yemen, too, almost every car bears the badge of the Japanese auto giant Toyota. Chevrolet cars are all the rage in Egypt, but Austria has the most diverse automotive market in the world. The locals don’t have one favorite brand there.

Renault, Volkswagen, Citroen, Khazar, Lada, Chevrolet, Dacia, Ford, Skoda, Suzuki, Maruti, Saipa, KIA, Hyundai, Fiat, Isuzu, Perodua, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, Honda, Seat, Volvo, GM and Jeep have been recognized as the best selling brands in at least one country. While Audi is not the leader in any country in the world, its E-Tron electric SUV is recognized as the most popular electric model in Norway.
By far the most popular automaker in the world is Toyota. The Japanese brand is recognized as a bestseller in 44 of the 110 countries surveyed. The second place was taken by the German auto giant Volkswagen, which is the most popular brand in 17 countries. Renault, Hyundai and Chevrolet shared the third place. Each of these brands is recognized as a favorite in five countries.
In terms of specific models, the best-selling car in the world is the Toyota Hilux. It is followed by the Toyota Corolla. The Japanese sedan shares second place with the same brand’s Land Cruiser SUV and the Czech Skoda Octavia sedan. In Yemen, the Toyota Land Cruiser accounted for 52.4% of all new vehicle sales last year. Toyota RAV 4 and Renault Clio also entered the top five best-selling cars.
