The most renowned doctors and cosmetic surgeons in Italy

Plastic surgeons and aesthetic doctors are always talked about overseas. Where they are considered real stars. In the States, in fact, while still betting on the name of the specialist who created the incredibly relaxed appearance of Nicole Kidman (splendid today in the tv series The Undoing – The Untold Truths as it was 20 years ago) the identity of some is known by admission of those directly involved or by persistent chatter. Thus, it is identified in the doctor Jason Diamond the creator of the freshness of the face of Kim Kardashian, while Dr. Simon ourian remains the reference of Kylie Jenner. And given the results, it is inevitable to feel the desire to peek at the pages of these specialists on Instagram to see their work.

UNTIL WHAT POINT IS TRUE WHAT WE SEE
Nothing wrong with that so far, but the problem could arise when you decide to undergo an important operation or to do a simple “tweak” by selecting only the doctor to rely on on social media. Because the images you see can be deceptive, because they are not always sincere and do not always reflect reality. As emerges from a 2018 study, in fact, from an analysis of posts linked to hashstags such as #blepharoplasty, #lifting, #filler #fillerlabbra and #aumentoseno, the researchers of the Rutgers University del New Jersey found that in most cases these were misleading self-promotion marketing campaigns. Moreover, published by unqualified professionals (in order: gynecologists, family doctors, medical graduates without specialization and there was no lack of hairdressers and dentists …) often responsible, in the US, for interventions that have gone bad. Some of these are documented in the reality show Botched – Extreme Surgery su Sky, whose competent doctors like Paul Nassif and Terry Dubrow try to remedy. A trend that is not that far away, and that is also gaining ground in the beautiful country.

THE BEST 4
Despite the growing influence of Instagram, with a few exceptions, many experts in clinical aesthetics in Italy are reluctant to post academic publications and the results of successful interventions. Italian skills in this field are at the forefront and increasingly recognized in the world, because they pursue an approach that yearns for excellence, focusing on facts rather than images to be spread without restraint on the web.

Marco Klinger for plastic surgery
Blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty and mini-lifting, in addition to breast reconstruction, abdominoplasty and liposuction (the latter in great demand as a result of the modified lifestyle of the last year) are performed with precision and skill by Marco Klinger, Professor of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the University of Milan. Luminary of matter, it was awarded the prestigious and coveted in 2018 La Malinac Lecture, international prize considered the Nobel Prize in plastic surgery by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (American Society of Plastic Surgeons) already awarded in the past to two other Italians, Gino Rigotti and Riccardo Mazzola. A champion who has over 48,000 interventions to his credit: and experience in this field is indispensable. “The scalpel must give a result that is not noticeable. Knowing how to use it also means having the skills that allow you to avoid bleeding and manage complications in the best possible way », says the specialist. To find the right one, social networks are not the right way. “Asking your doctor for names is the first step, and it also helps to consult the list of specialists in your city by consulting the website of the Order of Doctors. I also suggest targeting those who work in hospitals or universities ».

Emanuele Bartoletti for the regenerating infiltrations
To make the signs and sagging of the face less evident with the so-called “puncture”, or regenerating infiltrations, the expert hands of Emanuele Bartoletti, President of Sime (Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine) guarantee the desired result without distorting the features. The expert says no to the reckless use of fillers that create thickness, reducing the face to a rubber mask. Furthermore, they are not without risks. “Those who use them without adequate preparation can inject the product into a vein: the consequence is a necrosis that leads to the formation of holes that can only be corrected with surgery”, explains the specialist. «The proven alternatives are biorevitalizing treatments: cocktails of regenerating substances inoculated into the subcutaneous to give well-distributed compactness, smoothness and tone, and which make signs and small sagging less evident. If well executed, they are invisible and imperceptible even to expert eyes ». Attention also to those that are passed off as pseudo-novelties. «The minimal interventions, which do not act directly on the defect, but take into consideration the harmony of the face as a whole, describe an approach that has lately been praised as innovative. In reality it is not: the schools that train aesthetic doctors, lasting 4 years, have been teaching it for thirty years! ». Finally, the hasty professional must warn. «The first meeting is crucial and takes time. Only the deepening of the person’s clinical history, the assessment of the extent of the imperfection and the understanding of the correlated psychological distress allow to establish a fruitful communication and the definition of an adequate and personalized protocol “.

Alberto Massirone for remodeling body treatments
Carboxytherapy, as a remodeling option, is the winning weapon of Alberto Massirone, President of Agorà (Italian Scientific Society of Aesthetic Medicine) to redesign the silhouette compromised by roundness and bearings. «It is a non-surgical method that does not resolve cellulite as we are mistakenly led to believe, but acts on the imperfections that accompany it. It consists of micro-injections of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the subcutaneous with a dual purpose: it increases vasodilation with consequent oxygenation of the tissues, and favors the explosion of the walls of the immobilized fat cells by reactivating cellular metabolism “, says Massirone. But the resolution of the problem always starts from a careful evaluation of the imperfection and from the expertise of the expert. «The success of this method always depends on a careful observation of the area to be treated and on the understanding of what determines and worsens it. Sometimes, in fact, it can be aggravated even by the correct posture. It is a safe treatment and the rare complications are due to the erroneous operation. For this reason it is always advisable to contact only trained and qualified doctors ».

Steven Paul Nisticò for the laser
Compared to a concentrated light scalpel, the laser is the tool used by Steven Paul Nisticò, Director of the School of Specialization in Dermatology at the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro to remove and make skin defects less evident. «It is a concentrated monochromatic ray of light of the same wavelength: it interacts with the skin tissues generating a sort of selective thermal damage, capable of causing the destruction of the target molecules producing very small lesions», explains the professor. The technologies that generate them, however, are not all the same. “The Q-Switched laser fragments and eliminates lentigo, café-au-lait spots, freckles and upper lip discolorations (the so-called melasma, more widespread pigmentation due to hormones, genetics and pharmacology, pill, or cosmetics not tested in association with light solar). Telangiectasias, the small dilated veins visible on the skin, are treated with the Nd: YAG laser or with the Dye laser: they selectively strike, closing them, thus making them permanently invisible. For scars (common or from acne) important keratosis and roughness are attenuated with the CO2 fractional laser: it exercises spaced microholes in the skin, which trigger the repair mechanisms of fibroblasts and growth factors, making the skin smooth, homogeneous and compact. It works by removing the thickening by vaporizing it and is equipped with color indicators (the WYIWYG, acronym of the English What You See Is What You Get – what you see is the result) that allow the operator to instantly understand the level of exfoliation he is practicing. It is also used for the removal of benign dermatological lesions in delicate areas such as the eye and mouth contours ». The specialist suggests always contacting competent experts who take care to carefully examine the imperfection before carrying out the treatment. «An evaluation must always be made to ascertain the nature of the imperfection. In doubtful cases and always for example to exclude the presence of a melanoma, an epiluminescence should be performed using an optical dermatoscope, which is essential for analyzing its morphology and internal structure ».
