The moving surprise of Prince William to boxer Lauren Price

A pleasant surprise was made by Prince William in boxer Lauren Price (Lauren Price) at Kensington Palace, shortly before leaving for the Tokyo Olympics. During an interview with BBC Sport, the duke offered to Lauren a special cake for her 27th birthday. As a kickboxer, he won the silver medal at the 2007 World Championships in Athens at the age of 13. She became a world champion and later competed in Taekwondo. In 2014 she became the first Welsh athlete to win a boxing medal at the Commonwealth Games and four years later won the gold medal at the same event in Australia.

Lauren talked about boxing, the difficulties she encountered especially when she had to balance school with her job as a taxi driver. The Olympics were a dream come true revealed: “It has been a dream of mine since I was eight years old. I remember sitting in the living room with my grandparents watching the Olympics and watching Kelly Holmes win the gold medal. At that time I did not know what sport I wanted to do, I just wanted to participate in the Olympic Games “.

Lauren grew up with her grandparents and sadly, her grandfather died last November. When the duke asked her how her grandmother supported her, especially now that she is in Tokyo, she revealed that her grandmother sends her encouraging messages, adding: “It will remind me how hard I have worked and for my dreams, what they mean to me. He always told me “to reach the moon, if I fall, I will land on the stars” and this is something I have left and I follow it “.
