Britain’s Labor Party suffered major electoral losses in areas with large Muslim populations amid discontent over its stance on the war in Gaza, despite a landslide victory in the general election. The party, which has always relied on support from Muslims and other minority groups, saw its ratings drop by an average of 10 points in seats where more than 10 percent of the population identify as Muslim. Jonathan Ashworth, expected to serve in a Labor government under Keir Starmer, lost his seat to independent Shokat Adam, one of at least four pro-Gaza candidates to win.
